ISCORD 2016

Dear KGS members, The eleventh International Symposium on Cold Regions Development (ISCORD-Incheon 2016) is being held on May 18-20, 2016 at the Incheon National University, Korea. This conference is prepared under the auspices of the Technical Committee of Frozen Soil Research in the Korean Geotechnical Society(KGS), Incheon National University, and supported by Korea Polar Research Institute. The aim of the conference is to bring together scientists, engineers, practitioners, and researchers to exchange knowledge and discuss on the recent technology development for cold regions. The ISCORD-Incheon 2016 includes two days of technical paper presentation with two parallel technical sessions and one day of two technical visits. The conference program consists of the five keynote lectures, fourteen technical themed sessions presentations of independent papers and session chair within each technical session. Total 80 referred papers from eleven different nations, which is classified as ten main disciplines such as research activities in polar regions, mega city in cold regions, pipeline in permafrost area, construction technologies in extreme environments, environmental considerations, geo-energy, frozen ground and permafrost regions, engineering practice and research in modeling and field study, transportation infrastructures, and policy and engineering solutions.I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the members of Local Organizing Committee, International Advisory Board, Promotion Committee, and Scientific Committee of ISCORD-Incheon 2016 for their great effort and contribution. Through the conference I hope that every participant gets acquainted each other and makes international networks.
